Motorsport exhaust insulation — mats and heat-shield foil
Select materials for exhaust manifold, downpipe and other exhaust heat-shield projects at Racing Dream. Our range includes a 7 mm insulation mat and 0.1 mm AISI 304 stainless steel foil for forming outer shields.
Products: 3
0.1 mm AISI 304 stainless steel heat-shield foil — classic embossed
0.1 mm AISI 304 stainless steel heat-shield foil — orange-peel
Which exhaust insulation materials does Racing Dream offer?
Thermal insulation mat — the insulating layer
The 7 mm mat in a 1 × 1 m format can be cut to suit the project. The declared continuous service temperature of the mat itself is up to 1100°C.
Stainless steel foil — the shaped outer cover
The classic embossed foil and orange-peel foil are 0.1 mm thick AISI 304 / 1.4301 stainless steel. They differ in surface texture. They are materials for a shield whose shape and mounting must suit the particular component.
How do you select insulation for a manifold, downpipe or turbo area?
- Identify the component and heat problem. Specify the heat source and the parts to be protected.
- Establish operating conditions. Consider temperature, heating duration and available measurements.
- Measure the available space. Record dimensions, nearby clearances, bends and mounting space.
- Select the layers together. The insulation, outer cover and fasteners must suit the complete assembly.
- Plan service access. Account for removal, joint inspection and powertrain movement.
For a project discussion, prepare photographs, dimensions, vehicle model, engine details and operating conditions. Accurate information helps match the material to the actual motorsport application.
Common questions about exhaust heat management
Insulation mat, foil or exhaust wrap — which should you choose?
These materials have different functions and installation forms. A mat provides a cut-to-shape insulating layer, foil forms a shield, and wrap is a tape for winding around a component. This Racing Dream category offers mats and foil. The choice depends on temperature, component geometry and mounting method.
Does 1100°C apply to the complete heat shield?
It is the declared continuous service temperature of the 7 mm mat. It does not rate the foil, adhesive or fasteners. The permissible conditions for a finished shield depend on all its components.
How much will insulation lower under-bonnet temperature?
The result depends on the heat source, shield design, airflow and operating conditions. A reliable comparison requires before-and-after measurements under comparable conditions.
Does orange-peel foil insulate better?
The name describes the surface texture. We do not claim a thermal advantage without comparable test results.
